Shirley R. Kipnes

Shirley R. Kipnes, 92, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. Shirley was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School. She attended Penn State University for one year, after which she married her beloved husband Herbert Kipnes, a highly decorated WWII veteran. Shirley was an extremely friendly, warm, outgoing person with an easy smile and caring manner. She was a member of Ohav Zedek Synagogue and Sisterhood, and the Jewish Welfare Board of Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb (who also died on December 8, twelve years ago), as well as her parents, Mollie and Harry Rottman, and her niece, Nancy Rottman Liebert.

Shirley is survived by: her son, Mark Kipnes (Amy); her daughter, Ricki Adoff (Bruce); her brother, Howard Rottman; grandchildren, Alison Corton, Brett Adoff, and Katie Kipnes; four great grandchildren and six nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Rabbi David Komerofsky will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
