In 1938, after completing two years at SWTSTC in San Marcos, she married William Odell Allison. They were blessed with two daughters. When the girls were school age, Sidney returned to college and earned her degree from Trinity University in San Antonio.
She taught school for 23 years. The last 18 were in the third grade at Cambridge Elementary, Alamo Heights I.S.D. in San Antonio. Sidney and Bill were longtime members of First Baptist Church in San Antonio, joining during World War II in 1941. At First Baptist, she served as a Sunday school teacher, library assistant and in the 4th Street Inn Ministry. After moving to Austin, Sidney joined Walnut Creek Baptist Church in 2004, where she looked forward to the monthly Senior Domino Slam Day.
An avid reader from childhood led Sidney to a desire to travel. After her first plane ride at age 54, she enjoyed five extended trips to Europe. By car and plane, Sidney was able to visit all 50 states, much of Mexico, Canada and the Holy Land. Bill went on many trips with her.
After sixty five years of marriage, Sidney's husband, William Odell Allison, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Carlisle and Mattie McIva Barber; three brothers, Robert L., Maurice G. and Paul W. Carlisle.
She is survived by her two daughters Judy Ann and her husband, John R. Burns of Waco, Texas and Sheri Lyn and her husband, Dr. David P.
