Si often said how blessed he was to have had two such wonderful women in his life.
His love of family was evidenced in the joy he had daily with his devoted children: Shirley & Stewart Alexander and Joanie & Stephen Pechenik and Amy & Jeff Fain, Lisa & Eric Schwartz and Theresa & Barry Slaiman.
But his greatest pride were his grandchildren Brenda & Tony Schram, David Alexander, Hannah & David Loev, Jennie Loev, Jennifer & Kimberly Slaiman, Carly Fain, Rachel Schwartz, Chase Fain & Jamie Schwartz and Tony & Jennifer Pechenik, Rebecca & Aram Elovic, Jacob Pechenik & Ana Pechenik and great grandchildren Melissa & Elizabeth Schram and Jordan & Marisa Loev.
He was a pioneer in his lifetime, moving his family to San Antonio in 1952 and living for four years in Israel in the early 70's.
He was very active in the San Antonio community, an honors graduate of Rutger's University, a member of The Board of Directors of St. Mary's University and initiated an on-going Catholic-Jewish dialogue; he established a Rabbinical Forum for all San Antonio Rabbis, was instrumental in forming the first English-speaking B'nai B'rith Chapter in Israel, was president of B'nai B'rith Lodges in both San Antonio & Israel, and was a respected Biblical Scholar.
Among the many honors bestowed upon him were those conferred by Congregation Agudas Achim, Congregation Agudas Achim Men's Club, the Jewish Federation of San Antonio, and Jewish Family Service.
Special thanks to Si's devoted doctors Robert Schnitzler, Gary Gossen, Emanuel DeNoia and Carlos Porter.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, July 13th at Agudas Achim Memorial Park, 1700 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.
