Socorro M. Zarazua

María Socorro Muñoz Mendoza-Hernandez-Zarazúa entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2022 in San Antonio, TX. Socorro was born on January 9, 1931 in El Limón, Ciudad Culiacán, Sinoloa, Mexico to the late María Remedios Muñoz and Jose Refugio Ramos.

Socorro is preceded in death by her Aunt María Munoz Espinoza, son José Luis Hernandez (Josie), daughter Rosa Maria Hernandez-González (Faustino+) and husbands, Carlos Cruz Hernandez and Alvino Rosendo Zarazúa.

She is survived by her children Jorge David Mendoza (Antonita), Mariana Hernandez Sutherland (Scott), Carlos Hernandez, Tony Hernandez (Yvonne), Linda Zarazúa González (Victor), Alvino Zarazúa (Erika), Albert Zarazúa (Traci), 22 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Socorro was a beloved mother, grandmother, Comadre and friend. She operated a Family Child Care business for many years, enjoyed tending to her garden and cooking meals to gather her family and friends.

A Rosary will be held on March 30, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway, with visitation from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held on March 31, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will gather for a reception after services.
