

She was born in Raymondville, Texas, on February 15, 1921, to Enrique and Isabel Garcia Flores, and moved to San Antonio in 1962 and then to Austin in 2007. Sofia will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, tia, mother-in-law, and friend to so many.
She gave unstintingly of her time and resources to family, friends, and the communities in which she lived. She will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan de Hoyos and by brothers and sisters, Ella Davila, Arturo Flores, Ricardo Flores, Agustin Flores (died at birth), Adelina Cavazos, Enriqueta de la Garza, Obdulia Ruiz, Enrique Flores, Enclantina (died at birth) and Emma Lopez.
Survivors include a sister, Sister Stella Marie Flores (Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus); a daughter, Nora de Hoyos Comstock-Bell; a son, David de Hoyos; 5 grandchildren, Ariel and Paul Comstock (the twins); David de Hoyos, Jr., Haidi Veronica de Hoyos, and Christopher de Hoyos, as well as great-grandchildren, Denon Comstock, Kimberlie Comstock, Christian Comstock, and Paul Comstock, Jr.
There are many nieces and nephews who were very, very special to her. She loved you all.
Visitation will begin Monday, October 17, 2011 at 12 noon at Porter Loring on McCullough.
