

Stanley “Buddy” Matcek was born on April 17, 1931, in San Antonio to Mattie Mae Bothe Matcek and John Joseph Matcek. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Brackenridge High School. He proudly served as an Army combat medic in the Korean War. After he returned to San Antonio, he met Peggy Anne Batot and they were married on February 12, 1955. Stanley enjoyed a long and successful career in the lumber industry and retired in 1996.
Stanley was a true gentleman, known for his integrity, kindness, and sense of humor. He will be deeply and forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Anne Batot Matcek; children: Stanley Matcek, Jr., Jennifer Hooker, Christine Matcek Esparza, Laura Matcek Adan, Matthew Matcek, Sr. (Regina), Denise Matcek Liedtka (Frederick “Tex”), Melanie Matcek; grandchildren: Nathan Matcek (Lori Ann), Aaron Matcek (Adrienne), Rachel Esparza Cione (Ian), Eric, Matthew and Michael Esparza, Michelle Adan Rangel (Alex), Leslie Adan Rodriguez (Paul), Matthew, Megan and Taylor Matcek, Camille, Lauren and Claire Liedtka, Christopher and John Duff, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Yvonne Buckley and Patricia Biry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Mae Bothe Matcek and John Joseph Matcek; sister, Rose Madeleine “Madge” Matcek; daughter, Michelle Elaine Matcek; daughter-in-law, Debbie Matcek; son-in-law, Roland Adan, and grandson, Michael Adan.
