Stasia McDavid, 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on August 10, 2025. She was born on July 29, 1942, in Harlingen, Texas. She was immediately adopted by the late Howard E. and June B. Tope. Stasia was raised in Houston, Texas, with her brother, where she graduated from Reagan High School, before attending the University of Texas in Austin for three years.
In 1959, Stasia met the love of her life, Tom McDavid. The couple married in 1961 and were blessed with two children, Tommy Jr. and Kandi. In 1969, they moved to San Antonio, where Stasia would spend the remainder of her life. She loved her children fiercely, always proud of their accomplishments and deeply involved in their lives.
In her free time, Stasia enjoyed a variety of activities, including playing games on her iPad, reading novels by Danielle Steel and James Patterson, and working on jigsaw puzzles with her daughter, Kandi. Stasia cherished time spent with her family—especially her daughter, grandchildren, and their significant others. She loved going out to eat or celebrating special holidays and events with them, often becoming the life of the party with her infectious laughter, storytelling, and witty jokes. Stasia was eagerly looking forward to meeting her great-granddaughter, Milana, who ironically was born on Stasia’s 83rd birthday.
Stasia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom McDavid Sr; her parents, Howard E. and June Tope; her in-laws, Lewis and Tillie Chaney; her Son-in-Law, Ed Caveda; and her sister-in-law, Jane Tope.
She is survived by her daughter, Kandi Caveda of San Antonio; her son, Tommy McDavid Jr.; her grandchildren, Justin Caveda and his fiancée Leah McDonald; Evan Caveda and his fiancée Mallory Castro, along with their daughter, Milana Amor Blossom Caveda (Stasia’s great-granddaughter); and Aaron Caveda and his significant other, Tatiana; her brother, Howard Tope; her niece and nephew, Kimberley Tope and Mike Tope.
Stasia's vibrant spirit, love for her family, and quick wit will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace, reunited with those she loved.
