Stella Angela Smith

Stella Angela Smith, a devoted servant of the Lord entered into his loving arms on September 11, 2025 at the tender age of 48. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 28, 1977 to parents, Linda Casarez and Raul Castillo.

Stella lived her life with an unwavering passion for her faith, joyfully serving in her church, Liberty Baptist Church. She especially loved organizing bus treats for the children and was always eager to lend her hands and heart to any work that glorified God. Her spirit radiated kindness, and her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did. She often reminded her loved ones, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,” words she both lived by and left as a lasting comfort to her family.

Beyond her church, Stella found joy in simple pleasures and time spent with others. She married Shon Smith on July 14, 2007 in Mountain View Baptist Church. She delighted in traveling to Disney World, crafting, playing card games, and gathering around board games with friends. Stella’s life was filled with laughter, fellowship, and a genuine love for both her family and her church family.

She will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Shon Smith; father, Raul Castillo; uncle, Daniel Castillo; step-dad, Jesse Salas; nephew, Emanuel Castillo; and her cousin; Sergio Salinas.

She will be remembered for her joy, her kindness, and the steadfast faith that guided her life by her children, Talayeh Castillo Smith, Tatyanna Bell (John Bell), and Schon Smith. Siblings, Roy and Suzanne Castillo; as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Though she has gone on to her eternal reward, her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew her.

A Visitation for Stella will be held Monday, September 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church, 7421 Marbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78227 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM, we will depart from the church in Procession for Burial at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
