Steve Williams, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to his parents, Mary Francis Goodwin and Shirley Williams, in Kannapolis, North Carolina on November 22, 1948. A man that truly refused to give up, Steve survived a heart attack in 2013, living another nine years after he was projected to by his physicians; and up until the day he passed, friends and family endearingly knew him as a “lifelong bullshitter”. Though he had steady careers throughout his life, Steve’s true passion and calling was music. In the 1970’s, he was a pioneer in “Outlaw Country”, a subgenre of country music characterized by a mixture of blues, honky-tonk, rockabilly, and the ever-evolving genre of rock and roll. During his career in music, he took on various stage names such as Phlagg Williams, Doc Williams, Billy Chrome, Little Stevie, and Alphonse Julliard (yeah, that one is real). When he wasn’t rocking out on stage, Steve could be found dabbling in his other hobbies, such as riding his Harley, a skill he picked up later in his life, and carpentry. In fact, his two daughters, Jessica and Sarah, spent much of their youth building furniture with their father. Steve is survived by his two daughters, Jessica Nentwich and Sarah Clark; his sister, Norma Karm and her husband, John; his aunt, Brenda Morgan; and many close friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
