Steven Richard Higby

Steven Richard Higby was born in Ankara, Turkey on May 6, 1969. Steven was proud of being born in Turkey and having Down Syndrome. He loved life and people, had high self-esteem and great determination.

Steven lived independently for thirteen years. He was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School, Class of 1991. Steven was an Eagle Scout, and was awarded top overall performances in two events at the 1994 Special Olympics State swim meet.

Steven had 25 years of part time work experience, most recently at Earl Abel's Restaurant. He participated in two Spurs championship river parades with the San Antonio Baseline Bums.

Steven died on March 1 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandparents(Jean and Ralph Toovey), and(Dorothy and Eldon Higby). He is survived by his mother(Pamela Higby), father(Richard Higby), sister and brother-in-law(Sara and Tyler Taylor), step mother(Justa Garcia-Higby), step brother(Julio Mella), nieces and nephew(Carlie, Beau and Paige), aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held on March 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrew's UMC(722 Robinhood Place) services will conclude at the church. In Lieu of flowers please make donations in Steven's name to a charity of your choice.
