Steve Hoffman, a proud business owner, Army veteran, and avid golfer, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on March 31, 1947, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, and spent his life working hard, enjoying family, and pursuing his passions.
Steve enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years. During his service, he demonstrated the discipline and commitment that would later shape his career and personal life. Though he was proud of his military service, Steve was also eager to return to civilian life and begin building a future for himself and his loved ones.
Upon returning home, Steve founded his own insurance company, a company that he would nurture and grow over the next several decades. His dedication to his clients and his drive to offer top-tier service made the business a respected name in the community. Steve took great pride in his work, and it was often said that he treated his customers more like family than clients. He valued honesty, integrity, and fairness in every aspect of his business, and he found fulfillment in helping others protect their futures.
Outside of work, Steve was known for his love of bowling, a rabid fan of Michigan football and golf. He spent countless hours perfecting his swing and cherished the time spent on the course with friends and family. Whether it was a casual round with close buddies or a friendly competition, Steve always found joy in the game. It wasn’t just about the sport itself but the camaraderie and connection it provided him with those he held dear.
Steve’s love for the outdoors extended beyond golf. He enjoyed spending time in nature, appreciating the beauty of Texas landscapes, and exploring the countryside with his wife and children. Steve’s family was the center of his world, and he was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren’s achievements.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kay (McConnell) Hoffman and brother, Robert Hoffman. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Yvonne Hoffman; daughter, Shelise Maschke (late husband Tommy Maschke); grandsons, Christopher Maschke and Tyler Maschke; niece, Erin Vesperman (Brad); nephew, Peter Hoffman (Amara); sister-in-law, Nancy Hoffman; and numerous close friends.
