Steven was born in Taylor, Texas on November 22, 1955, to Preston Walter Tutschke and Dorothy Faye Watson Tutschke. In 1965, Steven’s family moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to his father’s family. Steven graduated from Texas Military Institute in 1974. He made many lifelong friends during his time at TMI. He played football and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow athletes. Steven attended Texas A&M University.
Steven was very involved in round and square dancing where he met his wife, Brenda Henne. They enjoyed many years of dancing and traveling to different events. Steven enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in the yard. He loved to go to the nursery to find just the right plants to beautify his yard. He would get bird seed to feed the cardinals and other birds passing through and then would sit in his recliner and watch them enjoying their feast. He loved watching NASCAR and football games.
For the last 10 years, Steven has worked for Northside Independent School District as a bus driver. He loved the kids on his bus, taking classes on field trips, football games and other sports, as well as academic competitions. He truly enjoyed interacting with the students.
Steven is survived by his wife, Brenda Henne; his sons, CJ (Chris) Porterfield and Michael (Aaron) Johnson; his sisters, Susan Alwais and Robin Tutschke; nephew, James Clark (Corina); niece, Jennifer Kirkland (Greg); and grandchildren, Londyn and Dylon Porterfield, as well as many cousins and great nieces and nephews.
