We were stationed with the Stechs at Grissom AFB. in 70s. Always looking for people from the past , just found this obit. Stechs were really nice people . Sue took one of our puppies , named him Tiger. She really loved that dog.

Sue was wonderful to visit with when she came to stay at my mother's Barbara Joliff home in Edgewood, IL in 1999. Sue came to IL with my Aunt Mary Murray Shaffer. She came to talk to me about the bridesmaid dress she was going to sew for my cousin, Sanseria. My mother and I really enjoyed visiting with Sue, she was a lot of fun to be around. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family. We are so glad that we had the opportunity to meet Sue and visit with her.

Dear Stech Family, You are in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of Sue. We've heard many wonderful things about your beloved wife, mother and grandmother through the years. I am in awe, to say the least - my sister is the one who sent me the notification...If I had to describe beauty by naming a person, I would have named Sue Stech. She was my second mother and someone dear to my heart. The time we spent together was some of the happiest of my life and she helped me through some very tough times when my family could not. My deepest regret is that we often think that time will wait and people will last forever. My family and I are still in Germany with the military and all I can convey now is my love for her and desire for her peace. I know I have lost contact over the years and for that, I am forever sorry. Despite my lack of correspondence, please know your family is as close in my heart as it ever was. I would be happy to hear from you should you choose to write. 

I know one day we will meet again and sing praises together in heaven. I'm sure my father has already joined her.

I am so sorry to hear about your family's loss. I remember Ms. Stech from high school, and how involved with and supportive she always was of Brad. My son, Diego, and I send our love, and our thoughts are with you.

Sue was our neighbor for over twenty years. She was as good a friend as anyone could every want. She dearly loved her family and was indeed a rock to which we all cherished. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family and friends.

I knew Mrs. Stech as a great mom to my friend Brad and a wonderful guide to all of Brad's friends. She was a shining example of kindess, laughter and love. I am truly blessed to have known her. MY DEAR FRIENDS I WAS SO SHOCKED TO HEAR OF THE PASSING OF SUE.MY HEART IS SO SADDEND. I KNOW THAT YOU KNOW HOW SPECIAL SUE WAS. SHE WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND . WHAT A LOVING FRIEND I HAD IN SUE. WE SHARED A LOVE FOR THEATER & WE HAD GREAT FUN BEING DRAMA MAMAS. SUE HAD A GREAT SEWING TALENT,SEWING ORIGINAL GOWNS FOR SANSERIA.WE SHARED MANY MEALS AND LOTS OF GIRL SCOUT COOKIES TOGETHER.STRAWBERRIES WERE A GREAT FAVORITE !!.I WILL ALWAYS HAVE SUE IN MY HEART & HEAR HER EACH TIME I HEAR LAUGHTER. We had the pleasure to meet Sue through her son Wes and his wife Toy here in Hawaii. Sue was a beautiful person both inside and out. We always enjoyed our visits and conversations with her. We are shocked and saddend to hear of her passing. Sue will be sincerely missed by everyone whose life she touched. We have made a donation in Sue's name to the Animal Duration Fund. We only met Sue twice, but from those encounters we know she was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, and friend. We wish the Stech family peace and serenity during this trying time.

We only met a few times, but know that Matt Jackson and his parents, Cliff & Lynda love this special lady so very much. She was a beautiful & warm woman. We wish her family comfort and love during these difficult days.

Always there, Always caring, nothing was too much to ask for her to help with. She was a God send to me as a member of the John Jay H.S. Drama Mamas. The Thespian troupe banner she made for the drama department hung with pride all my 12 years at John Jay. It was a joy to teach her sons and daughter during my tenure at John Jay as theatre director. Many a costume, drapery and stage prop made by her made its mark on our stage. 
As a comfort to me I look to the Lord's prayer--the part that says "I walk through the valley of death" The key word to me is "through". Sue was one never to tarry, she walked straight through into the light that follows. I know that although herself is not with us, her spirit is. As my grandma use to say, "just feel the whisper of the wind on your cheek, that will be me."

To a wonderful and great lady. She was always there for my daughter Corinne when we had to move to the Austin area and Corinne stayed in San Antonio, Sue treated her like one of her own. We will grealy miss her. Love The Spang's

I am so sorry for your to hear about this . You are all in my prayers. I am not sure if you remember me I was in theater at John Jay with Brad and I lived with Katy Smith and her family for a while. Just know you are in our prayers.

I remember the first time I met Sue, I am a friend of Harold and she treated me like I was a friend of hers without really knowing me she accepted me into her home and made me very welcome. It was the start of a friendship that I won't soon forget. She added a special note to our Christmas card this year thanking me for being there for MY friend, and I was very touched by her gracious thoughts, showing that she was always thinking of others and appreciated anything anyone did for her and her family. We will miss her.

My prayers and sympathy are with you all. And though no words can dull the pain you feel, please know that the Lord's arms are open wide to comfot you.
