Susan Cardoza Patton

Susan Cardoza Patton, 66, passed away on March 30, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Susan was born to Joseph and Trieste Cardoza on October 18, 1950 in Providence, Rhode Island. The Cardoza family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1956. Susan graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1968 and then went on to attend Florida State University, where she graduated in 1973 with a degree in Education. After college, Susan taught second grade at Cooper City Elementary for two years. She then joined Delta Airlines and worked as a flight attendant from 1975 until 2001.

Susan married Joe Dan Patton, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas on April 24, 1982 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Her son, Tyler Joseph Patton was born on August 27, 1987. Susan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Joe Dan Patton, Jr. of San Antonio, her son Tyler Patton and wife Hannah Schorp Patton of San Antonio, sister Nancy Cardoza Hupp and husband James Hupp of Big Pine Key, Florida, niece Jamie Hupp Hill and husband Mark Hill, great nephew Hudson Hill and great niece Mackenzie Hill of Jacksonville, Florida, and brother-in-law Glenn Patton of Oxford, Mississippi.

Susan was an avid Spurs fan, loved home decorating, cooking, yoga, and attending the theatre. She always looked forward to her monthly meetings with her "coffee group", which consisted of some of her closest friends. One of her favorite places to travel was New York City, where she loved attending the latest theatre productions with good friends. She also treasured her annual trips to visit family in the Florida Keys. Family and good friendships were two of the things she valued most in life. Susan was diagnosed with brain cancer in November 2013, and over the next 40 months, she endured two brain surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. Susan was an inspiration to all who knew her during her illness due to her positive outlook, never-give-up attitude, and good sense of humor. Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

\Susan's memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.org). Following the service, family and friends are invited to Tyler and Hannah Patton's home in Hollywood Park for a Celebration of Life reception for Susan.
