Our dear mother was a beloved Mother and devoted wife. She loved family gatherings, birthday
celebrations of her children and grandchildren, and Sunday BBQs with family and friends. She took enjoyment in decorating her home throughout the year and the holidays, especially Christmas, where her home was filled with Christmas decorations, figurines, and lights. Our mom loved watching her football on Sunday’s, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and was a true San Antonio Spurs fan. She showed her avid support for the Spurs, by having one whole room decorated with Spurs memorabilia. Throughout our mom’s lifetime, she helped families in the neighborhood by babysitting their children, so that they could go to school or work, often watching 2 or 3 kids at a time, from eight in the morning till six in the afternoon.
Her devotion to the family went well beyond her husband and children, whenever family members were sick and needed some type of care for weeks or months, our mom was often given the responsibility of helping to nurse them back to health. In her free time, she would work on her yard tending to her various plants, rose bushes, and bougainvillea’s and completing a puzzle or two. For so many years when you first entered my mom’s home, you would be struck by the smell of fresh homemade tortillas and the meal we were having for the day. The house always echoed with the sounds of Elvis, Fats Domino, George Strait, Jimmy Edwards, Little Joe y La Familia or Selena, because she loved music so much. And until the very end of her life, music was always playing in her home. Our mom was loved, and cherished by many, and will be missed by everyone that she knew, helped, touched, and befriended.
