Tamara Leah Stowe was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 14, 2020. She was married to the love of her life Kevin Chambers for 14 years. Together they shared an interest in traveling to skate club events, where they forged many friendships, and to rock concerts, one of Tammy’s lifelong musical passions. After graduating as a registered nurse from the Baptist School of Nursing, Tammy dedicated 27 years as a psychiatric nurse at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Her service to our nation’s most vulnerable veterans was truly her most challenging and meaningful life mission.
Tammy was known for her powerful intellect, sharp wit, humor, positive attitude, contagious laughter and pursuit of hobbies like genealogically mapping the family heritage, scrapbooking, astronomy club and collecting her favorite musical artists and Spurs memorabilia. Some of her many talents included playing piano, clarinet and twirling baton, which she did as a majorette in the high school marching band and the Fiesta Flambeau Parade. One of her daily pleasures over the years was tending plants and feeding the deer and chickens that would come to visit along the back fence. A yearly holiday event Aunt Tammy always looked forward to was playing dice with her family, especially her nephews Corry and Wesley and niece Tracy. There was lots of food, excitement, laughter and “friendly” competition.
Tamara was also a strong swimmer, earning a life guard certification, an excellent water skier and amateur sailor—all of which comprise her most favorite childhood memories at the family lake house where she spent many warm, sunny days skiing double with Kelley, swimming, sailing, late night spotlight boating, sunset family walks and playing board games.
Dedicating a time each morning to bible study was very important to Tamara, and it was her biblical faith that gave her the strength and courage in her last days stating, “I accept whatever God’s will is for me. I trust Him, and that’s where I want to be.”
Tamara made the world a better place through her generosity, kindness, loyalty, dedication and faith. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She is survived by her husband Kevin Chambers; her sister Kelley; nephew Corry (wife Jessica and children Cora, Asher, Claire); nephew Wesley (girlfriend Brittany); niece Tracy (husband William and children Emily, Anna, Julia, Ian.) Her parents Darwell E Stowe and Dorothy Jean Stowe precede her in death and have welcomed her home.
Special hugs and condolences for Kevin, who deeply loved and cared for Tamara. The best years of her life were lived by his side.
