

Tamela ‘Tammy’ Toi Arabit-Burzlaff, age 51, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Tammy was born June 6, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph ‘Joe’ A. Arabit and Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Gonzales Arabit. She graduated from Northside Health Careers High School and Baptist Health System School of Health Professionals. Tammy was a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse and served her patients with compassion and kindness. She also received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology of Organization and Development from the University of the Incarnate Word. Tammy continued her studies at Webster University where she completed a Master of Counseling degree. Tammy continued her passion for helping others by becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and a Certified Life Coach. Throughout her career she served patients in hospice and mental health settings; persistently advocating for the most vulnerable. Tammy also served as the office manager for her husband’s practice, Thilo Burzlaff, M.D., P.A. She will be greatly missed by those she served and loved.
Tammy married the love of her life, Dr. Thilo Burzlaff on August 8, 2008. They celebrated ten years together (married eight) before his passing in 2016. Together they served and volunteered at the Army Residence Community, Padua Place, and many other organizations. She also leaves behind the second love of her life, Sigmund ‘Ziggy’ Burzlaff, a precious Brussels Griffon. Tammy was preceded in death by her husband, Thilo; mother, Ellie; her father, Joe; her grandmother Rosa Caballero Gonzales; and grandfather Morris Rocha Gonzales. She is survived by her brother Joseph (Aleen), step sister Gina (Jason) Boone, step mother Raynee Arabit, her nieces Alexia, Ashton, Mali, Maci, and Maya, her aunts Blanca (Raymond) Flores, Estrella Dietz, Dolores (Robert) Diaz de Leon, and Linda Hill, her uncle Morris (Minerva) Gonzales and her cousins, Melissa (and her son Nathan) Flores, Monica (Peter) Stark, Christina (Ken) Kolbinskie, Larry Gonzales, Norma ‘Dolly’ Dominguez, and Meghann (Casey) Rauch. Funeral Mass will be held at Porter Loring Chapel Saturday, September 17th at 9:30 a.m. followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. A celebration of life lunch has been arranged at El Mirasol (Alon Shopping Center) following the services.
