Terri Diane Callins, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was born in San Antonio, TX and graduated from Jefferson High School. She attended Texas Tech University earning a BA in Interior Design and later attaining her NCIDQ certification. Terri successfully managed projects in Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany, England, Belgium, Greenland, as well as many locations in the U.S. There was no one better to travel with on a project trip! She was a team player, always selfless and had an incredible work ethic.
Her family, friends and colleagues recognized Terri to be an artist at heart. She was a painter and the go-to person on projects when it was time to select finishes. Terri was gifted, but modest about her talents. She designed her own home and managed the construction. But she was always up for a visit with a vodka cocktail or a nice glass of red wine—which continued through a nice dinner, while commenting about tycooning, the squatter, and democrats.
Terri enjoyed playing tennis with her JCC friends and gambling in Vegas which included an occasional dice game. All her dear friends in Nashville, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio will miss her Greek cuisine laden dinner parties—ah, those Greek lemon potatoes and tenderloin—and evenings full of wonderful conversation.
Terri was blessed with a wonderful family of friends. Her joy and spirit will live eternally with her friends who loved her and will forever miss her dry wit. If you could count Terri as your friend or mentor, or both, you were blessed. She left an amazing legacy of helping people accomplish success in their design careers.
Probably, though, her most dedicated role in life was Dog Mother. She was a HUGE animal lover, especially of dogs. Her last two dogs were Weber, a sweet stray puppy found hiding in the cabinet of a discarded Weber grill, and Mowgli, a precious pooch abandoned at Costco
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, George Peter Callins and Diamando Stathakos Callins, Tom John Litras and Sotiria Karathansis Litras, and her parents, Peter George Callins and Olga Litras Callins. She is survived by her two brothers, George Peter Callins, (Cindy) and Tom Peter Callins, along with her beloved dog, Mowgli, her “Chupacabra”.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary.
