

She was a graduate of Larchmont College in NY. During her marriage to Col. Preston Steele, she traveled extensively throughout the world before he retired from the U.S. Army in 1960. Terri showed her strong patriotism and deep love for this country by volunteering for over 38 years to different aspects of the Army. This includes her dedication to our soldiers who were hospitalized at Brooke Army Medical Center Hospital as a member of the BAMC Auxiliary. Additionally she was an avid supporter of the West Point Alumni Association.
Terri was a founding member of the Church of Resurrection, Episcopal in Windcrest where she helped establish the elementary school and served as its first director from 1966-1968. Terri was a long time member and contributor to the United States Modern Pentathlon Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Starkey and Iona Lawrence; her husband, Col. Preston Steele, USMA class of 1932; and her daughter Terri E. Steele.
Terri is survived by her long time friend and companion, Col. Richard E. Gonzales, Jr., and her two pugs, Mr. Chips and Maggi.
Her family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to Don and Marie Maddox, Kathleen Schoenbaum, and the physicians and staff at both Regent Care Center and VITAS Hospice with special recognition to Dorothy, Virginia and Marie.
