Terry was born on December 19, 1928 in Pelly, Texas, to parents, Jesse Lee and Virginia Young King.
He graduated from the University of Texas in 1952, and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon, also a member of the United Naval Reserves. He then married Vera Buck and became a member of St. George Episcopal Church. Terry was a member of the Navy League in San Antonio and the Oak Hills Rotary Club, also on the board of the Bexar County Appraisal District Review, and became a FEMA Inspector for 8 years.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, Jesse Lee Young and Virginia Young King; and wife Vera King.
Terry is survived by his children, Terry King, Jr. of Highlands, Texas and Kathleen Milford; longtime friend, Shirley Jean Rodes of Katy, Texas; sister, Jesse Lee Velie of La Port, Texas.
