

Ted Belden, age 68, of San Antonio, Texas passed away suddenly March 2, 2015. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Theodore and Olympia (Bettini) Belden. Ted was the loving husband of Joanne (O'Connell) Belden for 45 years. He had two sons, Jeffrey and Mark, both of San Antonio, Texas. He had one wonderful grandson, Brady, also of San Antonio.
Ted graduated from Springfield Technical High School and Springfield Technical Community College with a degree in Computer Science. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966. He proudly served his country in DaNang, Vietnam from 1968 -1969. In 2010, the U.S. Naval Support Activity, DaNang gathered in Washington, D.C. for a reunion. Ted was instrumental in organizing the weekend event and rekindled many fond memories with his comrades.
Ted worked for Massachusetts Wholesale Drug Company (later became McKesson). In 1990, Ted relocated with his family to San Antonio to reorganize and rebuild McKesson's business as the Distribution Center Manager. He also served as Team Leader for McKesson General Medical with their national inventory control reorganization.
When Ted retired in 2005, he dedicated his loving skills to help take care of his grandson Brady; something he cherished dearly. Ted loved to golf and was a member of the FBCSA Golf Ministry and of Tuesday's Alibi Golf Group. Ted was also an avid history buff. He especially enjoyed the history of the United States military. Ted loved to cook and grill. He provided many wonderful meals for family and friends.
Ted was passionate about his family and was their hero. Besides his loving wife and sons, Ted is survived by his grandson Brady and Brady's mother Nicole Belden Yarbrough. Ted leaves behind his brother, Clarence Belden and wife Carol of Springfield, MA and sister, Rosalie Lussier and husband Raymond of Cheshire, CT. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
