She was born in Haines City, Florida and was the third of four children to Hilda & George Thornhill, where she grew up in the Central Florida area. She won numerous blue ribbons in the 4H club and married her High School sweetheart Lester Mikell.
They settled in the Bedford area in 1964, where she became the owner and operator of "The Cake Box". Several of her unique cake decorations won her state wide attention and eventually led to her becoming elected as the first woman president of the National Bakers Association. Lester passed away in 1996.
She was an avid follower within the Church of Christ realm. Those that knew her fully understand that her years of physical pain have finally brought about a freedom she had long desired.
She is survived by her two children, Ken & Patricia, three grandchildren, Brandi, Jeff, Brian and two great grandchildren, Nathan and Taylor. Theresa moved to the San Antonio Texas Area earlier this year to be near her son. Per her request, her ashes will be placed with her loving husband, who is buried at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville, TX.
Both the family and Theresa asked that no flowers or mementoes be forwarded to the memorial, but ask that any heartfelt donations be sent directly to "World Bible Translations Services" PO Box 820648, Fort Worth TX, 76182-9967 in her name. The memorial is open to all.
