Thomas William Bolden, age 67, passed away Friday, September 25th, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 13th, 1953 in Bolivar, Tennessee to DW and Rosie B. Bolden. Thomas retired from the U.S. Army after 8 years as a Staff Sergeant. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years.
He is survived by his children Darla Carr and husband Robert, Christian Bolden and wife Rae Taylor, and Ian Bolden; siblings Carolyn Hawkins, Randy Bolden and wife Hattie, Debbie Henton, Betty Williams, Annette Hawkins, Steven Bolden and wife Erin; grandchildren Julia Grove, Shayla Culwell, Raina Culwell, Keelie Waikel, Arlo Bolden, and Julian Bolden; and great-grandchildren Hadasah Grove, Zipporah Grove, Azariah Grove, Judea Grove, Aurealia Curtis, and Laith Curtis.
Thomas was a spirited man, lively, fun, and loyal to his longtime friends. His bond with Roy and Sherry Salone who maintained almost 50 years, and his friend Jean Marsh was his companion and caretaker for many years. He was a tenacious fighter, not afraid to take on adverse circumstances, whether it was to battle through difficult health conditions or to get in the way of a knife to save someone else’s life. His contagious smile and genuine laughter will echo in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be missed.
Thomas Bolden will be set to rest with full military honors at Ft. Sam National Cemetery. A virtual celebration of his memory will be held at 6pm on Wednesday October 21th, 2020.
