

He was a life-long member of Central Christian Church where he served as Deacon. Thomas was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and Trinity University where he was awarded "Outstanding Lineman" of San Antonio and offered a place with the Chicago Bears. Initially coaching for Fox Tech, he later founded his environmental contracting firm, TEHCO, Inc.
A dedicated outdoorsman, hunter and licensed fly fishing instructor, he was a member of Alamo Fly Fishers and Federation of Fly Fishers. His favorite hobbies were fly-tying, riding his Harley, goose hunting in Canada with friends and arrowhead hunting.
Tommy loved his farm and friends in Castroville and treasured the time he lived there. Known for his great sense of humor and practical jokes, Tommy never met a stranger. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Lodge #1079. He was a longtime member of The San Antonio Country Club.
The family wishes to thank the care givers, Josie and Valerie Lopez, for their loving care and devotion and special thanks to Dr. Marnie Ross for her constant care and compassion.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Tom; his mother, Altah Lee and brother, William.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Jane Poe Howell; daughter, Anna-Laura Howell Block and husband, Michael Block; sister-in-law, Carolyn Howell; nephew Rev. Jeff Howell and nieces, Jennifer Howell, Janel Howell Perez and JoAnne Howell Wuneberger.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
