

Thomas Edward Yeager Jr., age 84, rode off into the sunset on Saturday, May 11, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 9, 1939, to parents Jessie G. Kagle and Thomas E. Yeager in Washington D.C. at Walter Reed Hospital.
Thomas was called Tom, Tommy, Dad, and Papaw by those he loved. Thomas lived a life marked by dedication, service, and passion. He exemplified a spirit of commitment from an early age. His journey began with a calling to serve his country, which led him to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served for over 28 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Security Police. After his retirement from the Air Force, he spent 20 years in the Civil Service. All the while maintaining hobbies as an avid golfer, little league baseball coach, and animal lover.
Tom found a love for horses at the age of 67 to bond with his granddaughter. Thomas first entered events in the “Super Senior” division and quickly became a skilled horseman and key member of the riding community. The cowboy was a finalist for America’s Favorite Trail Horse with his beloved mare, Kaleki, in 2011. Tom continued to earn multiple awards, competitions, and be recognized by his peers for accomplishments in both the American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) and Equine Trail Sports (ETS) with horses Koa, Kaleki, and Blaze. Soon after moving to Kempner, Tom bought his last horse, Rain, who he loved and cared for until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son Thomas Yeager. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen Yeager; daughters Robbin Yeager, Rita Daniel, and Stacie Puett; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sister Doris Turner; and brother Donald Yeager.
