Jeffrey was born at Hamilton AFB, California on October 11, 1957 to Richard B. and Marion E. Langenbach Fink.
He was raised in an Air Force family and lived in six states, the District of Columbia and England by high school. Jeffrey graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio and was a very proud member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He graduated in 1979, received a commission in the Air Force and entered pilot training.
During his military career he flew over 3, 500 hours in the C-130 transport while serving at several bases in the US and overseas. During much of this time he was an instructor pilot. He was selected for an Air Force fellowship in meteorology and returned to A&M for two years of study and received his MS in Meteorology. His last assignment was to the Pentagon, where he retired in 1999. He also received a MBA from St. Mary's University.
After retirement he flew the military version of the Boeing 737 for the Air Force and was an active light plane pilot and instructor.
His greatest joy was his family and his four children; Melissa, David, Daniel and Christina, and he celebrated the arrival of his first grandson, Benjamin Vincent Hefner in June of this year. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was active in Boy Scouts and filled leadership roles in several troops over the years.
He was widely traveled, well read and enjoyed new experiences. He recently realized one of his life dreams, when he and Bernadette were able to go white water rafting in the Grand Canyon.
Jeff is survived by his wife Bernadette McDermott Fink; children, Melissa Chris Hefner, David, Daniel and Christina; parents, Col Richard Ret. and Marion Fink; brother, Richard Diana Fink; sister, Barbara Steve Weart; and several nieces and nephews.
