She was born in Pennsylvania to Arth Amer and Rebecca McKowen Ames. Janet was a graduate of Bentleyville High School and South Side Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA.
Immediately upon graduation, Janet proudly served her country as a pediatric nurse in the USAF during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. She retired from the USAF in 1971 at Lackland AFB and continued to reside in San Antonio, TX.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James Ames and David Ames.
She is survived by her brothers, Harrold Ames and Theodore Ames; sisters, Nancy Blakeway, Barbara Ciuca and Mary Lynda Tarorick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 beginning at 11:00 am with a service to follow at 12:15pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.
Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
