

Maj. John Henry Rose, USAF (Ret.) passed away on August 24, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Born to Harry and Jane Rose in Bakersfield, California. John grew up in California and attended college in San Francisco where he met his wife and fell in love. John joined the United States Air Force and served his 20+ year career as an Electronic Warfare Officer on B-52's, with duty stops in Michigan, Arizona, and Texas.
John's personal passions were sailing, listening to vinyl records, woodworking, and antique cars, and he cherished deeply the gift of a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon that he gave his only son, James, as his first car.
He was a proud father of four children, all of whom grew up in San Antonio and attended the University of Texas at Austin. John loved his family and often spoke fondly of his favorite family vacation, their once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe almost 10 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Christine Rose.
John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Katherine O'Donnell Rose; children, James Rose and wife Sarah, Mary Rose Ramirez and husband Joshua; Abigail Ann Rose, and Hannah Elizabeth Rose; grandchildren, Patrick James Rose and Brian Howard Rose; sister, Liane her husband Lance and their daughter, Chloe and aunt, Rita McDermott.
Private services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
