

On April 7th, 2016, retired Major Bobby R. Caraway (USAF) passed away at the age of 82 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 31st, 1934 in Nixon, Texas; the son of Amos D. and Lillian Caraway. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from TCU in 1961. He earned a Masters Degree in Political Science from Auburn University in 1973. He also earned Management Curriculum Education and post graduate degrees at the Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, Ala., and the Industrial College of Armed Forces in Washington, DC. Proudly entering the Air Force as a Commissioned Second Lieutenant out of ROTC at TCU in 1961, he made a distinguished career in the Intelligence Service branch, serving multiple tours of duty in the Viet Nam war and International assignments in Japan, Korea, Greece and England. He was an Operations Staff Officer at Numbered Air Force, Major Command Headquarters, and the USAF Headquarters at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. He retired a Major in 1978. He then used his management and administrative skills in the private manufacturing sector until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed Golf, Fishing and Travel. He passionately loved the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers and TCU & Auburn football. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Bobby Caraway Jr, and wife Olof Sisi Caraway. Survived by brother – David and sisters Mary Smith and Barbara Richey; and many loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Porter Loring North (1604 and Gold Canyon).
