Val George Bryning

Val Bryning is survived by wife Martha Bryning and his children Scott Bryning and wife Lisa, Colleen Pillow and husband Michael, and Julie Evans and husband Bill. In addition, Val is survived by 12 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Val Bryning was preceded in death by his parents Genevieve Punches and Jasper Bryning and his brothers Marvin Bryning and Delano Bryning.

At his request, no end-of-life service will be held, but he will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on February 18th. A formal military memorial will be announced at a future date.

Val was born February 14th, 1931, in Wenatchee, Washington to Genevieve and Jasper Bryning. His father was a farmer and his mother owned a coffee shop.

Val graduated from Half Moon Bay Union High School, California in 1948. After graduation, Val became a truck driver before he entered military service in 1951. He served in the Army both stateside and overseas during the Korean War. Val completed his military service in 1954 and then returned to his career of truck driving. He met the love of his life Martha, married her in 1958, and started their family in 1960. Val retired in 1996 and he and his wife Martha then moved to Brentwood, California where they spent the majority of their post-retirement years. Finally, Val and Martha spent time in Manteca, California, San Jose, California and San Antonio, Texas where they could be near family.

Val’s interests included spending time with his family, Bunco, and reading. He devoted much of his time and energy to family members and friends.
