Valentina C. Valdivia was born March 6, 1925 in Somerset, TX to loving parents Jesus Maria Cantu and Valentina Cantu; she died peacefully on May 31, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria V. Guzman, Dora A. (Tony) Perez, Sylvia V. Puentes, Kathy (Juan) Espinoza, Tonie (Javier) Villafuerte, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Valdivia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jesse R Valdivia, her parents Jesus and Valentina Cantu, her grandson Andrew Guzman, her brothers, Jesus, Epimenio, Tomas, Reynaldo, Miguel, and her sisters Elvira Tellez and Aurora Rodriquez. As young women she was a member of the Hijas de Maria (Daughters of Mary) at San Francisco de Espada Mission.
An active member of St Mary Magdalen Parish she worked with the Nutrition Center, Ordinary Minister of the Eucharist, she was a member of the Altar Society, the Coro, and the Guadalupanas. Mrs. Valdivia enjoyed gardening, sewing, trying new recipes and preparing special requests to celebrate her daughters’ birthdays. When her daughters or her grandchildren would tell her “I love you” she would respond “I love you more”. Her daughters would like to thank the nurses and staff of Caraday Wurzbach Nursing and Rehab for the care they gave their mom during her final months. A special thanks to Jennifer Valdez for the care and grace you showed to our mom.
Services will be held on Monday June 8, 2020 at St. Mary Magdalen Church 1710 Clower
Visitation: 9:30 to 1030 am, Rosary: 10:30 am Mass: 11:30 followed by interment at San Fernando#2, Arrangements under the direction of Trevino Cupples Rd Funeral Home.
