Verla was born April 20, 1954, in Grand Junction, CO to Lois Bairdell Gunter Colescott and Richard William Colescott. She graduated from Grand Junction Central High School and attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO and graduated with a degree in Family Studies and Elementary Education. On July 20, 1973, Verla married her high school sweetheart David Crowley, and they faithfully completed their vow almost 52 years later, “‘til death do us part.”
Together they had three children. They served together in the pastoral ministry for 49 years. She served faithfully as a senior pastor’s wife of the following churches: First Assembly of God in Durango, Colorado, First Assembly of God in Denver, Colorado, First Assembly of God in Grand Junction, Colorado, Abundant Life Church of God in Montrose, Colorado and Jubilee Family Church in Grand Junction and The Gathering in Grand Junction, Colorado and most recently of Encore Seniors Ministry at First Assembly of God San Antonio, Texas.
She became a lover of music at a young age in band (oboe and clarinet) and choir. She loved to create things at home for her family such as basket weaving and dyeing, crocheting, baking, cooking and collecting blue and white dishes. She served her family and took care of each of her grandchildren for an extended season.
Survivors include her husband, David Crowley of San Antonio; Alicia and Justin Reed of Ceresco, Nebraska; Adam and Conrad Crowley-Le Bron of Los Angeles, California; Alana and Thomas Colbenson of Cibolo, Texas. Jayden, Kamden and Beckett Ammons of Cibolo, Texas; Grace, Sofia, and Amiya Reed of Ceresco, Nebraska; and her sister, Peggy Chambers of Grand Junction. Her parents and brother Rich preceded her in death.
A visitation will take place on, Friday, June 20th, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., following with a Celebration of Life Service, at First Assembly of God San Antonio Church 13435 West Ave. San Antonio, TX.
A celebration of life service at Clifton Assembly of God Church in Clifton, Colorado will be forthcoming.
Interment will be held at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction, Colorado.
