

Viola Mae Jordan, age 76, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born July 3, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Viola Eliza Finnell and Paul H. Barrass Sr. Viola graduated from Warren G. Harding H.S. in Warren, Ohio and then trained as a registered nurse.
Viola later attended UTSA and was a student of sports medicine. Viola was an active member of Cornerstone Church, and she began working for Cornerstone in the office and later the music department in the late 1980s. Later, Viola worked for Cornerstone Christian Schools in the athletics department and served as a houseparent for foreign exchange students on campus with her late husband, Charles. Viola was passionate about her faith and her family. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, and she enjoyed gardening, crafting, and scrapbooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Melvin Jordan. Viola is survived by her daughters Melissa Jordan-Chavez (Jason) and Charissa Jordan (Robert Peterson); grandchildren, Naomi Sowell, Andrew Sowell, Eliza Chavez, and Adalyn Peterson; many nieces and nephews as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
Viola’s favorite colors were purple and lavender, and she loved to wear bright Hawaiian prints. Her daughters encourage everyone to wear brightly colored clothing to honor Viola’s love of color.
