Virginia Vasquez Castillo

Our beloved Virginia V. Castillo went to be with our Lord on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the age of 80. She was born on August 24, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Castillo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio G. Castillo and her sons, Antonio Castillo, Jr. and Leroy G. Castillo. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rebeca Contreras and Eugene, son, Daniel Castillo and Mary, and daughter, Yolanda Aleman; grandchildren, Melanie Hernandez, Daniel Castillo, Jr., Jessica Contreras, Jackie Contreras, Jennifer Castillo, Tracy Castillo, Selina Allen, Gabriel Castillo, Katrina Aleman and Jacob Aleman, numerous great-grandchildren and many friends. Mrs. Castillo held employment at Walgreen’s, Pecan Factory, and Kelly AFB before operating three restaurants alongside her husband in the west side of San Antonio, the last being the well-known Don Simon Restaurant for over 15 years. She will be most remembered as a strong wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first. A special thank you to the staff, residents and families at Mystic Park Rehabilitation Center for their love and care; and to her daughter and caregiver Becky, who gave countless hours of unconditional care to her mother until the very end. Visitation will be held at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd., on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 5:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. for a 9:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church with interment to be followed at San Fernando Cemetery No. 3.
