Virginia Goss

Virginia Goss was 88 years old when she passed away on Tuesday morning March 12, 2019. She was born on July 9, 1930 in San Antonio to her parents Angel and Herlinda Contreras. She graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1949.

In December 1957 Virginia began work for the Department of the Air Force at Lackland AFB.

In 1965 Virginia transferred to Iran with her husband Mike Goss. There she worked at the Persian Knights Enlisted Club at the Base Exchange Warehouse Control Section until returning to the states in 1967.

Virginia transferred with her family to Warner Robbins AFB, Georgia. There she worked at the Base Exchange Headquarters in Accounts Controls.

In 1970 she returned to San Antonio where she was again employed at Lackland AFB. She was assigned to the Data Automation Branch of Accounting & Finance. She retired with more than 35 years of service to her country.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Angel and Herlinda Contreras, her brothers Fernando and Joseph Contreras, her sister Linda Garcia, and her son Randy Buchanan.

Virginia is survived by her:

Brother: Gilbert Contreras and his children Vickie and Roland Contreras

Daughter: Colleen Barshop and her husband Bruce Barshop and their three children Christopher Puente, Samantha Barshop Goodell, and Ben Barshop.

Daughter: Yvette Miller and her husband Michael and their children Sydney and Sterling Miller.

Step Son: Ronald Goss

Grandchild: Katelynn Buchanan

Many wonderful nieces and nephews: Denise Sasser, Hector & Joey Contreras, Jason Phelan, Norman & Roland Contreras, Devon Contreras, Bill Morales and many more.

Virginia was very blessed and I know she is where she wanted to be with God and her Family.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at Porter Loring McCullough.
