Virginia Lee Huntress, age 95, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus, at her home in Tarpley, Texas. Ginger was born in Oklahoma City, part of the Greatest Generation and a long time resident of San Antonio, Texas. Ginger had the heart of a servant and did much for others through the years by being active in her congregation and through her teaching. She was known for her love of Christ, country, people, nature, animals, and doing the right thing. She prayed daily for each family member. She had a gift of connecting with people, quickly learning their story, and was always found tending to others with food, money, prayers and love. She was a true patriot, praying for our country and, in particular, the men and women who served and are serving in the Armed Forces (many of her family members). She attended church every Sunday until Covid, and, when she was able, was always found behind the scenes, setting up communion or teaching VBS or Sunday School. Her heart went out to the 25+ charities she supported
Ginger was a lifelong learner, loving to explore other cultures. She travelled to China, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Central America, Europe, as well as throughout the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. She attended Trinity University, attaining a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught at San Antonio College, Robert E. Lee & John Marshall H.S., Nimitz & Eloise Japhet, enjoying a 37-year career of teaching Math.
She was special and loved and will be dearly missed.
