

Virginia was born January 8, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1948. One of Virginia’s friends, Snookie Halliday, introduced Virginia to Snookie’s cousin, Monroe. Two years later on May 6th, Monroe and Virginia Married. They were married 69 years.
Virginia worked 34 years for AT&T. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, helping “Clem” build their country home and playing her accordion. They both enjoyed going to Hermann Sons dances on Saturday nights.
Virginia was loved and will be missed by her nieces: Donna Bueche (Chip), Brenda Lane (Eddie), Linda Tart (Randy), Beth Flowers (Gene) and her nephew, Kenneth R. Barr (Brenda); numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and her cousins, Edna Mae Fannin and Eileen Haden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis. Tennessee 38105 or to Kerrville Pets Alive located at 414 Clay St. Kerrville, Texas 78028 or to the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank her caretakers, Rosie and Daniel Contra, who made her final days peaceful and full of love; and her special friend, Simone Diaz.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with the committal service to begin at 11AM.
