

She was born in San Angelo, TX on April 21, 1933. On March 12, 1955, she married Joe David Cochran in Richland Springs, TX and they were married for 57 years. Her younger years were spent in Mertzon, TX, Garden City, KS, Waco, TX, and Richland Springs, TX, where she graduated high school as Valedictorian. She graduated from Baylor University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Administration and was the first female at Baylor to major in accounting. While at Baylor, she was in the Golden Wave Band, Alpha Chi, Phi Gamma Nu, Beta Alpha Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and was also a member of the Executive Council for the School of Business. In 1991, she retired after 17 years with Intelogic Trace/Datapoint. Prior to that she worked for Peoples State bank, Pool Well Servicing, Baylor University, North Texas University, and Sam Houston State University. Always involved in community service, she stayed active in the Sonshine Singers, the Baylor Women's League, the Windcrest Women's Club, the Windcrest Garden Club, and the Windcrest Art League.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband - Joe David Cochran, her mother and father - Laura Annie Moore Saxon and Thurman Thomas Saxon, and her brother - Thomas Eugene Saxon. A dedicated and devoted mother, she is survived by her four children and their spouses - David Wayne and Susie Diaz Cochran, Debra Jeanne and Mike Stovall, Denise Elaine and Frank Myers, and Deanna Ruth and Bruce Laird. She was also a devoted grandmother and great grandmother to 11 grandchildren - Christina Leigh Cochran, Channing Jovi Cochran, Chloe Elizabeth Cochran, Chelsea Olivia Cochran, Forrest David Stovall, Sierra Jeanne Morrow (Bradley), Riley Saxon Morlen, Reggie Joe Morlen (Veronica), Logan Lewis Laird, Tiffany Anna Laird, Tanner Bryce Laird, and 3 great grandchildren - Bridget Ann Morrow, Spencer James Morrow, and Hazel Rae Morlen. Other survivors are her sister - Elizabeth Ann Jones, and her brother - Thurman Hugh Saxon, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A visitation for Vivian will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218, followed by a committal from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
