Vivian Olivares, age 79, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 15, 1945, in Alva, Oklahoma to Olive Swann and Raymond Minnis. From a young age, Vivian was very involved in the Church of Christ with her mother, which she cherished. At 16 years old, Vivian was diagnosed with cancer which she received extensive treatment for, and left her with long term health issues. Despite her health difficulties, Vivian was always the most positive person, spreading joy and love wherever she went with her exquisite grace and class that she carried so well. She was notorious for showing up and bringing Bundt cakes or coffee, wearing her bright, contagious smile and telling the “joke of the day.” Having a love for music, Vivian began song writing as a hobby and grew it into a successful side venture, working with multiple famous artists, from San Antonio to Nashville, Tennessee, where she spent quite a bit of time.
Vivian also had an extensive career in the federal court system that kept her busy for many years. As she neared her retirement, Vivian became very active in Cornerstone Church, which had her heart for three decades. Vivian sung every weekend in the Cornerstone Choir with all her beloved friends that she considered family. Vivian also found the time to travel the world with her sister, Rhetta, making a lifetime memories & fanciful experiences. Of all of Vivian’s talents, her most amazing ability was her special way of bringing so many others to know and love the Lord. She never missed and opportunity to praise His name and personify His word, being a true inspiration to anyone blessed enough to have known her. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; Olive Swann and Raymond Minnis; and faithful husband, Ed Olivares. Vivian is survived by her beloved sister, Rhetta Minnis; and her cherished God-son, Shaun Hernandez.
Vivian’s kindness and Godly wisdom was cherished by so many and will be forever missed. Her beautiful spirit will live on in those who knew and loved her so dearly. Your hard work is done, thy good and faithful servant. Until we meet again…
