

Walter Harold Pillow, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Centertown, Kentucky on October 23, 1929 to Clyde and Lillie Pillow. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Pillow, Harvey Pillow and Clyde Pillow, Jr., his daughter, Debra Pillow and son, Dennis Pillow. Walter is survived by his wife, Vernon Pillow; son, Michael Pillow and wife, Colleen; daughter, Veronica Wagner and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Belinda Sanders, Emily Willis, Kayla Medina and husband Andrew, Erik Pillow and wife Aundrea and Brandon Wagner; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Ovelia Allen; brothers, Boise Pillow, Elbert Pillows and wife Faye.
He was a distinguished Korean War veteran in the US Army, serving for more than 23 years and retiring from military service in 1972. The discipline and patriotism he learned while in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. He went on to have a successful civilian career in car sales, followed by a return to the military as a civil servant. Upon retirement, his love of family remained the focal point of his life, providing continuous support to ensure his children had every opportunity to succeed.
