He is preceded in death by his father, Walter George Simmons, Sr.; and his wife, Judith K. Simmons.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn E. Simmons; son, Marc Simmons; two sisters, Diane E. Simmons and Edith E. Sells and Mark; brother, Bernard G. Simmons and Patricia; nephews, Richard Herbert and John A. Lane IV and Andrea; niece, Katie E. Simmons; great-nephew, Hudson A. Lane and mother-in-law, Georgia C. Rudd and numerous other family and friends in Texas and Maryland.
