She was born on January 15, 1921, in Zakopane, Poland.
Wanda survived a German prison camp in World War II, and afterward arrived in Chicago, IL. She promptly moved to San Antonio, where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Alfred C. Metzger, Jr., who was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Wanda was known for her cooking, as she integrated several nationalities into every meal. She loved children and sewing, and was an avid Spurs fan.
Wanda was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she used her cooking skills helping in the school cafeteria and at bake sales.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred C. Metzger, Jr.; daughter, Nancy Metzger; and son, Michael Metzger.
