Wanda Marie Sanchez

Wanda Marie Sanchez, age 95, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 in Converse, Texas. She was born March 5, 1928 in Denison, Texas to Mary Sybil Dismukes and Albert E. Odle. After owning several businesses, including a beauty shop, she took a job teaching cosmetology at Burbank High School. She was very talented at knitting and crocheting, and her charitable nature led her to donate blankets, mittens, and baby hats to the Pregnancy Crisis Center. She was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Roy Sanchez; her parents, Mary and Albert; and her sisters, Ruth Bowling and June Brooks. Wanda is survived by son, Steven Swaim; daughter, Rebecca Van Dusen; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 2 nephews; and a multitude of friends and students. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Pastor Jack will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Miles Herring, Russell Phemister, Steven Swaim, John Rucker, Zeb Swaim, and Nathan Carranza.
