He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Helen Bowen, and his son, Larry. He is survived by his brother, Clyde Bowen, daughters, Beth Hernandez, and Brenda Van Shellenbeck (Karl), 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Competine, Iowa in 1933, Warren grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa and graduated from Ottumwa High School. He served in the Army in New Jersey and enjoyed exploring New York City and all it had to offer. After that, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Helen Elder.
Warren was a kind, patient, and gentle man. He was a father figure to many, especially persons with special needs. He was a natural athlete, excelling in many sports, including golf and bowling. In his later years, he attended Shearer Hills Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 515 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, TX.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
