

William graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and then earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas. At the end of his first year of law school at U.T., he was called to active duty and served as an Army military policeman in Daegu, Korea during the war. After the war, he continued to serve his country in the Army Reserve, retiring as a full Colonel after 26 years of service. He graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in 1957 and enjoyed the practice of law for the next 67 years, going to his office 6 days a week until a couple of months before his 94th birthday. William was a loyal Freemason for over 60 years, and is a Past Master of Scottish Rite Alamo Lodge 44. He was an active member of his Sunday school class, his couples dinner group, and enjoyed studying and collecting American brilliant cut glass.
William met his wife, Willa Jo, at Laurel Heights UMC, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December of 2024.
William is survived by Willa Jo, their son Walter and his wife Jan, son Paul and his wife Ann, and grandchildren Ashley, Hailey, Laura, and Charles.
