William Henry Duff Jr.

William Henry Duff, Jr., age 61, SGM (Retired) U.S. Army, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 9, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. Bill was born in Bristol, Virginia on April 27, 1947 to William & Kathleen Duff. SGM Duff retired from the U.S. Army after 28 years of service with numerous awards, commendations and a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy. Bill was an Instructional Assistant with NISD Special Education AMC Class for 10 years. Survivors include his children, William and Audrey Duff; grandson, Christopher Duff; granddaughter, Anya Winegar; brothers, Charles H. Duff & wife, Virginia and Robert Lee Duff & wife, Rebecca; mother to his children, Sheila Poirier; several nieces & nephews all of Nashville, TN; and former loving wife of 23 years, Donna Duff of San Antonio, TX ; numerous family & friends living and deceased; very special friends, Etta & Don; and the “Nuns on the hill,” Discalced Carmelite Nuns and Friars. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Welshans officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thornton and/or Elrod Elementary Schools Special Education AMC Class of NISD.
