My condolences to the family of Bill Blankenship. He always had a smile for all and a funny story to tell. I was privileged to work with him at Randolph AFB for many years. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I met Bill in 1994 when I became the Education Service Officer at Randolph AFB and he was in charge of the St. Mary's University office.  Bill beccame a good friend and we had many discussions about how to increase enrollments at RAFB.  We had many good conversations about our time overseas in Europe.  We also shared a common interest in dogs.  Bill could tell many interesting stories about the different dogs he trained while in the Army and people he came to know through the dogs.  It was a pleasure to know Bill and a privelege to have worked with him.  My condolences to him family.

I met Bill in 1979 when he was in charge of the Base Programs at Randolph, Lackland, and Kelly.  One of my duties as Director of the MBA was to visit these locations and if I failed to do so, Bill was sure to let me know this was not acceptable.  Bill became a good friend and adviser to me in helping find ways to increase enrollment at the bases.  He was instrumental in making the success of the off-campus programs possible at Ft. Sam, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Ft. Hood, and Austin.  The success of the Graduate Program was made possible by my friend, Bill Blankenship, I shall miss him.    Dr. Ronald D. I worked with Bill at RAFB for many years. Bill was my Boss at St. Mary's University at the RAFB Office. 
Bill was a wonderful man to know. I have so many fond memories of him. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known him, he will be missed greatly.

When I met Bill he was the only counseling rep from STMU going around to all the bases in San Antonio. I was a volunteer at the Randolph AFB Education Center located in the old medical clinic. At that time Bill had no problem climbing the stairs to the second floor tht housed the ed center.  As time went along, it became harder for him and then there appeared this lovely wooden cane.  Bill would take that cane with him for several years.  In time, Bill appointed assistants at the different bases.  That way he could oversee the operations of the off campus sites.  I became on of "the girls" and worked at Ft. Sam Houston.  I was always a treat to hear him coming up the stairs.  I knew I would be in for more great stories of the Army and his jobs recruting, and meeting prospective students.  Bill loved to go to lunch and always ordered tea with lots of lemons.  Later, the lemons gave way to Arnold Palmer's Iced Tea (tea with added lemonade). Bill you are missed and I so enjoyed having a "boss" like you in my life.  I wish I could give you a big ole hug right now.  R. I. P.

We only new him as "Coach".  He would grace our office with a weekly visit bearing a few bills to be paid, a story or 2 to amuse us, and always a smile.  He showed genuine interest in everyone he met from the front desk to the back offices.  He has left a huge void in our weekly routine and an even larger one in our hearts.  Blessings to his family and friends during this time of loss.

Bill was a larger than life figure......... At the Ft Sam Houston Education Center, you knew instantly when Bill was in the building.  I would hear him talking at the front desk.  I was a guidance counselor for Army soldiers at Ft Sam for 18 years and I got to know Bill very well.  If you needed any information on STMU, Bill was the go-to person.  He leaves a great legacy and will be missed.  May The Lord rain down blessings upon Bill's family during this time of sorrow.

Bill was my boss for St. Mary's at RAFB for a good many years.  I learned that there were few people that Bill didn't know.  His greeting to a new student would be "where are you from" or "what school did you attend"?  Bill would know somebody and a connection would be made with that student.  Bill told the best stories about Thomasville, Ga, or coaching, or his early years at St. Mary's.  He taught me vocabulary enrichment aka crossword puzzles and jumbles.  He loved a good joke and shared those too.  
Bill loved his family, loved his country, and was loyal to his friends and co-workers.
Bill was a good man to know.  
God Bless you, Bill always.

I met Bill when I was asked to serve as Director of our Engineering Management program St. Mary´s U. offered on the AF bases here in San Antonio.

I send my sincere condolences to Bill's family.  I was a counselor in the Education Services Center at RAFB, and Bill was a joy to work with.  If I needed any assistance with getting information for his students at
St. Mary's University, Bill was always ready and willing to provide that assistance......just one of the good guys.
