

William Clyde Looney was born in Mt. Calm, Texas on April 23, 1919 and went to rest with God on April 8, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Davis and Mabel Jewel Looney; Eula Brown Looney, his beloved wife of 61 years; his sister Juanita Douglas and brother Weldon Looney. While he loved the outdoors, camping, boating and fishing at Canyon Lake, his real passion was the Shrine Crippled Children Hospital in Galveston and the Shrine Burn Hospital for Children in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Alzafar Clown Unit and as a clown, Bill entertained the children at the hospitals. He also entertained children of all ages at the Fiesta parades and parades in surrounding cities. He was tireless in fundraising for the Shrine hospitals.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth, son, Neal Looney of San Antonio; daughters Martha Payne, Carole and Toxie Andrews and Sarah Travis of San Antonio; and Bruce and M'Lynda Owens of Austin; sisters: Lois Mitchell of Waco, Lola Mae Seely of Corsicana, Texas, brother Weldon Doyle and Charlotte Looney of Dallas, Texas, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Shrine Children's Hospital Fund c/o Alzafar Shrine, 901 N. Loop 1604 West, San Antonio.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Sunset Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
