

William Frank Mayo Sr. passed away at home surrounded by family on March 30, 2008. Frank was born November 6, 1926 to William Frank and Vera Laird Mayo in Union, Mississippi. He spent his childhood days in Mississippi and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He served in the US Army Air Force for 2 years. His Federal employment career began at Brookly Air Force Base in Mobile Alabama. He retired 42 years later, the last 25 years at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, retiring in December 1989. He then spent the next 7 years as a substitute teacher in the Northeast Independent School District.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Elaine Burden Mayo.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Bill Mayo and his wife Bebe of San Antonio and Eric Mayo and his wife Michele of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Taylor and William Mayo of San Antonio and Nicolas and Savannah Mayo of Corpus Christi; one brother, Robert L. Mayo and wife Gay of Wilmington, North Carolina; one sister, Martha Mayo Simmons and husband John of Houston, Texas; one cousin Thomas Ray Laird and wife Pauline of Florence, Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews. Long time loving companion and friend Peggy Rawlings; her daughter, Charla Wiemers and husband Mel; her son, Alan Rawlings and wife Kim; her grandchildren, Cody and Colton Wiemers, Jeremy and Justin Rawlings; great grandchild Brady Wiemers.
The family would like to thank The Cancer Center South Texas Oncology Hematology, Nix Private Health Care and Odyssey Health Care Hospice for their care services.
