William Alfred Moerner
July 21, 1922 – 9 September 2012
Passed away peacefully at home at age 90. Pre-deceased in death by his first wife, Bertha Frances Robinson Moerner and his sister, Lydiabeth Moerner. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Maria Esther S. Moerner; son, William Esco (“W.E.”) Moerner (Sharon); grandson Daniel Everett Moerner; brother Charles Alfred Moerner(Anne); and nieces, Pamela Moerner Raymer and Karen Moerner Rainey. Attended Thomas Edison High School, the University of San Antonio, and graduated from Trinity University. Served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator, bombardier, and special weapons officer during the WW II and Korea conflicts and also worked over 25 years as a professional photographer in the Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base. Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 235. Long-time member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and then St. John’s United Methodist Church in San Antonio. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park with service at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway at 9 AM on September 13. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Disabled American Veterans.
